Bio

My name is Evguenia Davenport. I am a first-year PhD student in English Literature at University of South Florida. I graduated from USF in 2013 with a dual Master's degree in Spanish and in Linguistics: English as a Second Language. I assisted with and led USF Summer Study Abroad programs in Latin America, in Argentina 2014-2015 and in Costa Rica 2016-2018.

Originally, I am from Russia. I graduated from the Urals State Pedagogical University with a Bachelor’s in English and German. I moved to US in 1999. I continued my studies here and graduated from USF in 2013 with a dual Master's degree in Spanish and in Linguistics: English as a Second Language.

I started teaching Spanish and Russian at USF in 2009, first as a teaching assistant and then as an adjunct faculty. I also assisted with and led USF Summer Study Abroad programs in Latin America, in Argentina 2014-2015 and in Costa Rica 2016-2018. Currently, I serve as a Secretary on Board of Directors for Russian Heritage organization based in Tampa Bay area.

I am interested in contemporary American Literature (20th-21st centuries). My research focuses on the questions of power, discourse and how discourse is used by intellectuals and individuals within the constraints of an oppressive system, state, regime, etc.
